The BeeHave Philosophy

1. Purpose

Why does Bee-Have exist?

Bee-Have is a theme camp dedicated to fostering creativity, community, and environmental stewardship at AfrikaBurn. Inspired by the intelligence and cooperation of bees, our camp serves as a vibrant space where individuals can gather, collaborate, and express themselves through art, music, and performance. Our mission extends beyond the festival, advocating for environmental awareness, specifically the importance of pollinators in sustaining ecosystems.

2. Mission

What is our goal?

Our mission is to create an immersive, inclusive, and inspiring environment that mirrors the communal harmony of a beehive. Through artistic expression, education, and sustainability initiatives, we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging, encourage meaningful interactions, and leave a lasting positive impact both within the AfrikaBurn community and in the broader world.

3. Vision

What does success look like?

Bee-Have envisions a world where individuals are empowered to collaborate, create, and contribute to a sustainable future. Our camp serves as a living metaphor for the power of collective action, demonstrating how small efforts can lead to a significant impact. By inspiring our members and visitors, we aim to spread the message of unity, creativity, and ecological responsibility far beyond the festival grounds.

4. Core Values

1. Freedom

We foster an open space where participants are encouraged to explore, create, and express themselves.

2. Artistic Expression

Bee-Have is a canvas for creativity, welcoming visual artists, musicians, performers, dancers, comedians, poets, artists and storytellers to share their work in a collaborative space.

3. Inclusivity

Our hive welcomes all individuals, regardless of background, ability, or identity. Diversity strengthens our community, just as biodiversity strengthens an ecosystem.

4. Fun

A playful mind & spirit infuses everything we do—from performances to interactive experiences, we prioritize joy and celebration.

5. Sustainability & Stewardship

We are committed to reducing waste, protecting the environment, and promoting the conservation of bees and other pollinators through education and action.

6. Collaboration & Community

Inspired by the unity of a beehive, we believe in working together, supporting one another, and creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and shared effort.

5. Unique Engagement Proposition (UEP)

Bee-Have stands out as a hub of creativity, connection, and consciousness. Unlike traditional high-energy festival spaces, we offer a sanctuary of warmth, inspiration, and mindful engagement. Our elevated hive stage provides a platform for unique artistic expressions, fostering deep connections through music, poetry, comedy, and performance art.
